Design, Installation and Maintenance

For any business that relies on power to support its critical applications effective business continuity (BCP) which includes power continuity planning (PCP) is imperative.

Carter Sullivan has invested heavily in researching and developing an offering to support businesses in delivering effective power continuity.

We worked through scenarios from beginning to end.  In doing so we realised very early on that providing quality power continuity was not just about installing a UPS.

Power continuity planning is as individual as the business it supports.

Delivering effective power continuity requires detailed design, documentation, implementation and ongoing support. Only by ensuring that all of these points are implemented in full can we be confident in providing business with a PCP solution that minimises the disruption suffered in the event of an unexpected power outage.

 Design

The integration of a power protection system to a business needs to be planned and executed professionally, ensuring that both the requirements of the customer, the equipment and the site are taken into account.
.
The start of the process is normally a site survey; this gives us an immediate understanding of the application and the environment to be protected.*

Once we have performed the site survey and gathered the information we need we will create a draft plan which will include:

  • A final detailed quotation
  • Equipment specifications
  • Drawings
  • Method and risk assessments
  • A time plan for delivery, installation and final commissioning
  • Details of service and maintenance agreements

The plan is submitted and discussed to ensure that all parties understand the arrangements and any required changes or issues can be resolved prior to the start of the project.

* Depending on the complexity of the installation we may need to perform further visits to investigate the electrical infrastructure, complete detailed drawings or even attend site with other contractors that maybe required, logistic personnel etc.

Installation

With a plan such as the one detailed above in place we can deliver, install and commission a system with minimal disruption to the business.

Moving the hardware within a building can be more hazardous than the journey to site with existing site equipment, services and personnel to protect. Experience has taught us that nothing should be left to chance and that the detailed planning ensures that your new equipment arrives unharmed and without disruption to your business.

We will ensure that a comprehensive method and risk assessment is part of the original design process.  On the day of delivery we will ensure that site protection is in place including floor and wall protection.  Once the equipment is positioned we will remove and dispose of any packaging and clear the site.

The electrical installation of the UPS and the distribution of the protected power is often the biggest concern for our clients. Our electrical installation team has over 12 years experience of installing both AC & DC power protection.  As well as performing the on site works our team will have input into the design and planning of the electrical installation of both the UPS itself and any infrastructure that maybe required.

Maintenance

With the new equipment in place and supporting the load it is vital that regular maintenance is performed along with access to emergency response and repair to ensure that in the event of a failure your equipment is attended to and repaired in the shortest possible time.

As a minimum, a Service and Maintenance agreement provides reassurance that an engineer is available when needed.

Carter Sullivan is proud of its reputation for after sales service, their dedicated Service and Maintenance engineers are fully trained to carry out the maintenance procedures and each visit will be fully documented.
