Eaton UPS Maintenance & Servicing Procedure
Preventative UPS maintenance, according to factory-recommended schedules, is essential to ensuring its performance and reliability. It’s also crucial to validating your Eaton UPS warranty.
Common causes of UPS failure include damaged or deteriorating batteries, faulty fans, degraded capacitors and transient spikes. During a scheduled Eaton UPS service, our technicians will begin by inspecting the unit. This involves physical checks on the UPS’s physical components, checking that all batteries remain sealed, terminals are secured, and all cabling is undamaged.
The technician will then download the UPS’s event logs to identify how frequently the unit has been called into action. They will ensure that all software and firmware is up to date and help identify any issues that may have occurred. They will then conduct a series of switching tests (UPS to bypass and UPS to battery) that check that the UPS is working properly. They will also check that all remote monitoring systems are functioning correctly too.

How Long Will My Eaton UPS Service Take?
The length of your service depends on the size of your UPS system. Maintenance processes on smaller UPS systems can take up to 1 hour, with larger units taking between 1 – 3 hours.
Servicing and maintenance procedures can be conducted outside of working hours to minimise any potential disruption to the business. As long as your UPS system has a bypass switch, the servicing process should cause no disruption to the day-to-day operation of your business.
How Often Should My Eaton UPS Be Serviced?
The frequency of servicing depends on a number of factors, including the conditions the UPS operates in and how often it is called into action. Eaton recommends that you service your UPS system yearly, but if the operating environment is harsh (prone to frequent power outages or used in a tough industrial setting), then servicing intervals may be shorter. In some cases, your UPS must be serviced quarterly. During this process, we may advise battery replacements.
