How We’ve Adapted for COVID-19

26th April 2021

The coronavirus pandemic has fundamentally changed how many of us work, and at Carter Sullivan, it’s no different. We’ve had to adapt how we work to continue to deliver our essential services and critical power protection.

We’ve embraced new technology, including video conferencing and virtual tours, reduced travel and introduced strict new protocols that ensure we comply with all rules.

As more of us are working from home, a reliable UPS system is more vital than ever. Here are some ways we are protecting our staff and customers while safeguarding their vital power systems.

Virtual tours

Our UPS demo room is a unique facility, enabling new and existing customers to get up close and personal with a range of UPS products. In the demo room, we can test and compare products from our partners, including Eaton, APC and Riello.

Our customer value the experience, so we have installed remote-controlled webcams in our demo room during the pandemic so we can hold virtual tours. This enables us to continue to showcase the benefits of each product while removing any risk.

If you would like to request a virtual UPS demo, contact us today.

Online UPS commissioning

Every UPS must be commissioned correctly to ensure it performs flawlessly. Previously, we would perform factory acceptance tests in partnership with in-house teams, but this isn’t possible under current regulations.

In response to the pandemic, we now offer customers the chance to live-stream UPS commissioning and factory acceptance tests. These tests are often conducted outside core hours, so we can also video and record acceptance tests so customers can view them at any time.

Using technology in this way gives our customers confidence that we’re continuing to deliver exceptional quality services in difficult circumstances.

Reduced travel

We install, commission and service UPS systems across the UK, so travel has always been a significant part of our business.

While we still need to visit customer sites to carry out UPS installations and essential maintenance work for or Managed Service customers, we have dramatically reduced the amount of time we spend on the road.

We now review every request for a customer visit to ensure it’s essential. If it isn’t, then we will work to find a remote solution that works for us all.

For new customers, we’ll do as much work beforehand before our site visit to ensure we limit any time spent on their premises. While we still offer our free on-site visits, we will learn as much as we can about your business before we visit.

At Carter Sullivan, we recognise that reducing customer contact removes unnecessary risk, so we’re doing it while maintaining the quality of service our customers expect.

Strict protocols for protection

Like all responsible businesses, we follow all government guidelines around covid protection. We have strict internal protocols covering the wearing of masks, social distancing and restricting travel to the essentials.

All our equipment and facilities are regularly cleaned and sanitised to ensure they are safe for our staff and customers.

Our staff are responsible for following all protocols and procedures when visiting clients’ premises.

We’re doing everything we can to keep our staff, suppliers and customers safe.

Online meetings

We’ve embraced flexible working, with many of our trusted team members now working at home.

To continue to deliver for our customers, we now use a range of digital technologies, including Microsoft Teams, to stay in touch and continue to deliver.

Doing so enables us to communicate effectively on behalf of our customers. It ensures we’re able to continue to provide critical power protection that our valued clients need for the smooth running of their businesses.

Future protection

We are doing everything we can to protect our staff, suppliers and customers during the pandemic. As we move into the next phase, we hope to offer more in-person services, but only when it’s safe to do so.

The past year has tested us as an organisation in ways we could never have imagined, but it has also demonstrated our capacity to adapt and change.

We’ve continued to deliver critical power protection for our clients, ensuring that their vital systems are there when they need them. Regardless of what happens in the future, that still remains our number one priority.
